Everyone knows airline food is awful, but to most of us that just means it tastes bad. According to a recent USA Today article, however, how it tastes is the least of the problem.
At a recent inspection of an LSG Sky Chefs facility (the airline caterer for just about every U.S. airline), the FDA found, among other disturbing things, ants, flies, live roaches, and dead roach carcasses that were “too numerous to count”. The food also tested positive for Listeria. (I don’t even know what that is, but it sounds pretty bad.)
In response to the report, LSG issued a statement saying it has “comprehensive and multilayered quality-control standards in place to ensure our customers receive safe, healthy and high-quality food.”
That makes me feel much better, you?

I have travelled on airlines for 40+ years and always pack my own food. Airline “food” really is disgusting and I think it’s getting worse.
