What’s next for the suddenly famous JetBlue flight attendant Stephen Slater?  His “take this job and shove it” episode has turned him into an overnight sensation with his new Facebook fan page already amassing 138,000 followers.

In case you missed it, Slater was the flight attendant working a JetBlue flight that flew to New York on Monday.  After the plane landed, one of the passengers opened an overhead bin, hitting Slater in the face, and didn’t apologize.  This prompted a meltdown of epic proportions where Slater grabbed the PA and told the passenger to go f- herself, cursed the rudeness of fliers in general, and then grabbed a six pack of beer and bolted out of the plane via the emergency slide.

Slater’s story has captured the imagination of all of us who, at one point or another, have fantasized about quitting a job in a blaze of glory.  Unfortunately, opening the emergency slide is a felony (technically “tresspassing” and “reckless endangerment”) punishable by up to 7 years in jail.  So for now, in between talk show appearances, Slater has a mess of legal issues to deal with.  But word on the street is he is poised to parlay his 5 minutes of fame into a reality TV series, and the offers are already coming in.  It’s the American Dream, right?

  1. Employeeabuse

Good for him! American businesses have given consumers who are on drugs, psychotic or just plain rude the authority to treat employees as they wish. The only ones laughing all the way to the bank are the owners and the CEO of the companies.

  2. I think making this a show is gone too far. I am sick of these low class actors getting shows. It is making a mockery of true actors that are and have paid the price to be actors. And now any one can be on TV. Our society is a mess anything goes these days.

  3. I give him 5 stars. The public is way over the line in how they treat people. We all have a stress limit, sometime I feel the way he acted.
