Alaska Airlines announced that they will be increasing their fees for checked baggage and changing tickets starting October 30, 2013. The cost to check your first two bags will be $25 each, up from $20 each. The fee for your third checked bag rises to $75 from $20, with the fourth bag rising to $75 from $50.
Alaska Airlines is also increasing the fee to change tickets to $125. The change fee will only apply to changes made less than 60 days prior to ticketed flight departure. Unlimited changes will be allowed for no change fee up until 60 days prior to ticketed flight departure.
The increases bring Alaska in line with the fees charged by some of its bigger airline competitors. Alaska will continue to offer its guarantee that if your bag does not arrive at the baggage claim area within 20 minutes of your flight parking at the gate, the airline will give you a $20 discount toward your next flight or 2,000 miles toward the airline’s loyalty reward program.
