U.S. Airports Incorporating Yoga and Meditation Rooms

Some U.S. airports have been adding yoga and meditation rooms, allowing you a space to rest, relax and recharge while traveling. If you’re ever seeking a quiet space to de-stress, here are six U.S. airports where you won’t look out of place doing the downward dog.

San Francisco International Airport, California

Located in SFO’s Terminal 2, the 150-square-foot airport yoga studio was the first of its kind. The San Francisco International Airport has posted yoga directional signs across the airport inviting you to set luggage aside and relax.

Burlington International Airport, Vermont

The Burlington International Airport recently added a yoga room to its list of services for travelers. Local studio Evolution Yoga made the room possible earlier this year with donations from area businesses.

Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, Texas

The Dallas-Forth Worth International Airport yoga room is located at Gate D40 and is blocked off from the terminal by a privacy screen. The studio offers mats and hand sanitizer for yoga, and also a “LiveWell” walking path for those who want some exercise before their flight.

Albuquerque International Airport, New Mexico

Located on the way to the baggage claim in the Albuquerque International Airport, the meditation room is a great space to gather your thoughts and pray.

Raleigh-Durham International Airport, North Carolina

You can enjoy a moment of peace at the RDU Meditation Center in the Terminal 2 ticketing lobby. The center is open 24 hours a day and is located before the TSA security check point.

Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, Illinois

The O’Hare Airport yoga room is open on the mezzanine level of Terminal 3 rotunda. The 15-foot by 16-foot room has a wall of floor-to-ceiling mirrors and exercise mats. There is a video monitor to play yoga techniques or nature images and audio plays soothing sounds. The room is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Plans to open a yoga room at Chicago Midway International Airport is in the near future.)

So, what do you think? Will you be adding yoga to your airport routine?
