The union representing British Air’s cabin crew members has announced plans to strike on March 20, 21, and 22 and then again on March 27, 28, 29, 30.
British Air is going to try to operate as many flights as possible on those days and here is what we know so far about what will happen if the strike goes through:
- all flights between New York’s Kennedy Airport and London’s City will operate as scheduled, as will all trans-Atlantic flights to and from London’s Gatwick Airport.
- an unknown number of their other flights (including all flights to and from London’s Heathrow Airport) will be canceled.
With a few exceptions, British Air is offering anyone booked to fly with them between March 19 and March 31 the ability to change their dates for no penalty, or cancel completely for a full refund. If you fall into this category, please contact our customer support desk at (800) 243-2724 or help@CheapAir.com and we will glady assist you.
UPDATE 03/19/20: Talks between the airline and union have broken off and it appears as if the strike will proceed as planned. British Air has begun to cancel some flights, including some on non-strike days of March 23 and March 24 (due to aircraft positioning issues).
