Earlier this week, we made a subtle but important change to our web site that we want to share with you. As you may know, there are a slew of different fees and taxes that are collected for the government any time an airline ticket is purchased. For flights in the U.S., these include a 7.5% tax, a 9/11 security fee, and airport facility charges which vary depending on the airports you are flying from, to, or through. For international flights, it’s even more complicated.
From this point forward, you can rest assured that any air fare you see on CheapAir.com — or any of the e-mail alerts that we send you — will contain only “all in” pricing. That is, the total, total fare with every single tax and fee already included.
This may mean that some fares look a little higher at first glance but, rest assured, we haven’t raised any prices. We’re just showing you up front the taxes that previously weren’t included until you finished building your itinerary.
We’re doing everything we can to make booking airline tickets as easy and as transparent as possible. A couple months ago we added indicators next to each flight option to let you know which ones have internet, live TV, and/or personal video monitors. This gives you the ability to quickly see which flights have the features or amenities that you care about, something no other travel site is doing. And we have more enhancements coming up that we’re really excited about, so watch this space for details.
As always, we love hearing your feedback — good or bad. It’s helps us to make our site better. So please let us know what you think.
