Skytrax collected more than 11 million responses to its survey over an 8 month period, which asks travelers to rate airports across the globe. The company claims that the way it collects the study makes it superior to similar surveys, as the responses are unsolicited and not restricted to any type of membership group. The votes are then tallied, broken down by region and finally revealed.

Cincinnati’s airport ended up coming out on top among the U.S. airlines that were considered, with Denver International Airport following closely behind. The staff of the airport were also recognized for their service as the best in North America. One more airport from the U.S. won an award – the Grand Hyatt at Dallas/Fort Worth was named the best airport hotel in the country.

Despite being the best that the U.S. has to offer, Cincinnati wasn’t able to capture the title of Best Airport in North America – that went to Vancouver, British Columbia, for the second year in a row. The prestigious Airport of the Year award, given to the best overall facility in the world, went to Hong Kong International Airport.

  1. April Fool’s joke?

I fly for a living, been in and out of CVG a dozen times in the past year. It’s hands-down the worst airport I’ve ever been through.
