We’re bringing you a new way to make travel plans attainable and affordable. Now you can finance your airline tickets purchased on CheapAir.com with Affirm, a simple and quick monthly payments option with no hidden fees, gimmicks or catches.
Here are all the details you need to see if this cool new option is right for you.
1. How do I pay for flights with Monthly Payments on CheapAir.com?
We keep things simple for customers and the monthly payments option is no different. When you get to the checkout page in your purchase, you simply select “Monthly Payments” to start.
You’ll then be redirected to Affirm to provide your full name, mobile number, email address, date of birth, and the last four digits of your social security number. You’ll find out if you qualify in real-time. For purchases of $100.00 or more, you will see three loan term options (3, 6, or 12 months), exactly how much your monthly payment will be under each option, and your interest rate (rates from 10-30% APR based on creditworthiness). For purchases of less than $100.00, not all loan term options are available. That’s it! That’s all you need to do to be set up to pay off your purchase in easy, budget-friendly payments.
2. What is Affirm?
We’ve partnered with an innovative financial services company called Affirm to make financing your travel purchases easy and convenient. Working with Affirm allows us to seamlessly bring you the monthly payments option on CheapAir.com. Affirm manages the application, approval, and payment process so we can focus on what we’re good at – being an online travel agency and bringing you affordable airline tickets, accommodation and car rentals! Affirm loans are made by Cross River Bank, a New Jersey state-chartered bank, Member FDIC.
3. How is it different from using a credit card?
Using our monthly payments option couldn’t be more different than using a credit card. You will never have to pay more than the cost you see at checkout with Affirm. Your interest rate, monthly payment amounts, interest cost, and total cost will be clearly displayed at checkout. There are no other fees (hidden or otherwise) to stress over.
CheapAir.com’s monthly payments option is not a revolving line of credit. Should you decide at a future date to buy with monthly payments again, you will make a new request for credit with Affirm on CheapAir.com.
4. Does the credit check impact my credit score?
When you shop on CheapAir.com and apply for Affirm monthly payments for your flight purchase, Affirm only does a “soft” credit check to verify your identity and determine your eligibility for financing. It does not impact your credit score at all. However, for loans requested on or after August 3, 2016, Affirm reports information about your loan and payment activity to Experian (and plans to report to other credit bureaus in the future). Affirm’s goal is to give you the opportunity to build your credit history as you repay your Affirm loans.
5. Does CheapAir.com or Affirm handle payments?
CheapAir is in close partnership with Affirm to bring customers the monthly payments option. If you make a purchase on CheapAir.com using monthly payments, your loan, including all of your monthly payments, will be managed directly by Affirm. You will be able to pay in whatever form best suits you – debit card, bank transfer, or personal check. Affirm will send you text and email reminders so you don’t miss a payment. If you have any questions about your loan, please contact Affirm directly at help@affirm.com – they have a customer care team ready to assist you.
6. Is my personal information secure with monthly payments?
Yes, protecting your personal information is very important to us. We took the time to research and vet the right company to bring you this option. Affirm encrypts sensitive data like Social Security numbers, and maintains physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your information. Affirm does not sell or rent your information to anyone, ever. We’re confident that you will find Affirm to be a safe, easy and secure financing option.

Hi Kevin, Not just yet. We’ve rolled this out to U.S. customers to start, but we’ll make a note and contact you when monthly payments come online for Canada. Thanks for the inquiry!
Is this yet in Canada?
Not yet, unfortunately. We will keep you posted on when we bring it to Canada.
How I can cancelled my booking ticket ?
Hi Marian, Is your booking with us? If so, you’ll see a 10-digit confirmation number that starts with either a #17 or #18. Please contact us at help@cheapair.com for assistance with your ticket.
What reason would you get denied to use Affirm
Hi Betty, they would do a soft credit check.
when will this be available to do ?
Hi Anthony, it is live on our site now! You’ll see the option at checkout.
Really!!
can this option be used for packages?
Hi Anthony, thanks for the question. At the moment we do not offer packages but it’s certainly something to think about in the future. Thanks for checking us out. Please let us know if you have other questions. We’d love to help.
This program has given you a customer for life!!!!!!!!! I’m already planning trips.
If you don’t agree with the finance rate, can you decline the transaction before your locked in?
Yes! Once you see the terms of the loan it is up to you whether you accept or decline.
If I decide to use the monthly payment option, do I take the trip and pay afterwards? Or do I need to pay off the total monthly payments before the trip?
Great question Chris. The installments kick in shortly after purchase, and you do not have to have the trip paid off in order to fly.
Is it ok If different person travel but different names will use the credits to apply for FLY NOW PAY LATER.
Hi Marilou, You don’t have to be the traveler to use the monthly payments option, but whomever applies for the option will be responsible for paying for the airline ticket(s).
Are the tickets good to travel anywhere in the country?
Hi Noris, You can use Affirm to book tickets nationally and internationally.
If you dont pay one month, do you guys send to collections
Hi Sally, Great question. Yes, if you fall too far behind on your payments, Affirm can send your account for collections. However, that is always a last resort and the preference is always to work with anyone having difficulty with their loan terms. You can see a full explanation in the Affirm FAQs, under the section “Paying My Bill.” Check it out.
When I set the dates for my flight, it wants me to hit purchase to lock it in. I don’t see an option for monthly payments
Hi Steve, Can you make sure you are on our site by starting your search on this page: https://www.cheapair.com/
Hi I was trying to submit my application and I see that TD bank was not in the list of banks. Is there another way to see if I get approved? Thanks
Hi Jasmine! Thanks for the question. We’re partnered with Affirm to manage all of your loan details. Cross River Bank is the lender of all Affirm loans. Any questions regarding the management of your loan should be directed to Affirm. You can read their FAQs. If you need additional clarification, reach out directly to Affirm via the “contact” button at the bottom of the FAQs page.
Hi the only option that I see is paypal credit. I do not see monthly payments.
Hi Quinn, I’m not sure you are on our website. Paypal is not a payment option with us. Can you navigate to this page and try again: https://www.cheapair.com/
Does the payment options work for international flights? I’m trying to book to germany but i don’t see the monthly payment options.
Yes, of course. Can you check to see if you are searching on the right page? Try this link: https://www.cheapair.com/flights/. If you’re still having problems, give us a shout again.
Is there a pre-payment penalty for potentially paying it off early?
Great question! No, there are no prepayment penalties or fees for paying off your loan early. Also, if you pay off your entire loan before the final due date, you will pay interest only for the period that you borrowed the money.
What kind of credit is needed to get approved?
Hi Sarah, Affirm (our financing partner) performs a ‘soft’ credit check to help verify your identity and determine your eligibility for financing. This ‘soft’ credit check will not affect your credit score. The best way to determine if you can be approved is to choose the “monthly payments” option at checkout. You are not obligated to purchase and will be given the terms of your loan eligibility before check-out.
I noticed in a comment previous. someone asked if they missed a payment would it go to collections, which you replued yes if payments get to far behind. so my question is does the amount approved for the trip have to be paid in full before you actually take the trip?
Hi Crystal. Not at all. You start paying for the trip shortly after purchase, but it absolutely does not hold up your travel plans.
where can I go to confirm you guys are a legit company.. is there a phone number besides an email?
Sure, Crystal! We’ve been around since 1989. We think we’re pretty legit! 😉 You can reach us at 1-800-CHEAPAIR, natch.
