Galentine’s Day Trips for You and Your Girls

This year on Valentine’s Day, why not flip the script and take your squad on vacation instead? After all, your besties always have your back! Reward each other with a weekend away. We’ve picked our favorite destinations for a girl’s trip that will guarantee great memories in 2019!

New Orleans, Louisiana

Don’t even stress about a thing when you visit the Big Easy. People are kind and completely up for a party, or a dance or a parade(!) and it doesn’t even have to be Mardi Gras for a celebration to take place. The French Quarter is where the best bars are at, but you should explore neighborhoods like the Treme and the Garden District (uptown). The best jazz and dining can be found in the Treme, and the Garden District is home to the most glamorous houses in the city. We recommend the Hilton on St. Charles Avenue for great value during this busy weekend. You can get a double room for under $200/night!

Las Vegas, Nevada

We’d be remiss if we didn’t include Sin City on our list. Las Vegas has warm weather year-round, a 24-hour bar scene, world-class shows, dining options for every budget and amazing spa services. If you’re traveling in a group with varied tastes, there might not be a better place to land. Stay at a hotel with a great pool – we like the Signature at MGM – where suites start at just $143/night for the weekend. Book a massage or mani/pedi at the full-service spa and have the concierge hook you up with tickets to see Gwen Stefani or Mariah Carey!

Joshua Tree, California

Outdoorsy besties should check out this Mojave Desert hipster’s delight. Featuring stark, stunning landscapes to hike and one of the best places to see live music in the desert (Pappy & Harriet’s), it’s still a relative bargain for accommodation. Rent a cozy homesteader’s cabin or yurt! Our favorite place to stay is Hicksville Trailer Park, which is (just as it sounds), a trailer park under the stars. Choose from a number of refurbished, themed airstreams including the actual gypsy trailer from “Big Top PeeWee” for your home away from home. There’s not a lot to do aside commune with nature in Joshua Tree, but relaxing is a favorite pastime for local yokels.

New York, New York

No big city trip can compete with Manhattan for the mind-blowing variety of things to keep a group of women busy. Cuisine from every country imaginable, arguably the best city park in the country, Broadway shows, off-Broadway shows, off- off- Broadway shows, and world-renowned museums like the Met and the Guggenheim are all on the offering. Accommodation isn’t necessarily cheap, but the best bargains can be found in the centrally-located (and iconic selfie location) Times Square. The 4* Crowne Plaza Times Square has rooms for under $200/night. We also like the effortlessly cool Frederick in Soho ($185/night), where some of the best boutique shopping in the city can be found.

Portland, Oregon

Looking for a low-key weekend away with super-affordable dining, and a compact city center that’s great for wandering? Portland calls! You’ll find oddities like Voodoo Doughnuts to geek out over, one of the world’s best used bookstores to wander through (Powell’s), a generally delicious and affordable food scene, and some fun live music venues to catch the latest hipster band. The centrally-located Benson offers rooms starting at $159/night with a minimalist vibe.

Coupled up this Valentine’s Day? Try some of these suggestions for a romantic weekend away based on your star sign!
