Toronto-based Porter Airlines will begin charging for domestic checked bags on all travel booked after April 21. Fees will be $25 for the first bag and $35 for the second bag. Passengers who booked travel before April 21, or who travel before May 14, will not incur these new fees.
Porter Airlines is the first Canadian airline to begin charging for checked bags. Previously, the airline charged check bag fees for flights to the United States but domestic travel carried no fees.
Will other Canadian airlines follow this trend? We’ll keep you updated.
