We often hear from customers that it’s difficult to know when to buy airline tickets. Airlines are constantly raising and lowering air fares, a regular cause of confusion and frustration. For example, it’s usually good practice to buy early, but there are times when doing so will come back to haunt you when the fare actually drops after your purchase. So, how are you really supposed to know when to buy?

CheapAir’s Price Drop Payback

At CheapAir.com we want our customers to know they are getting the absolute best fare they possibly can. Though we can’t stop airlines from constantly changing their fares in order to maximize “yield,” we can help you to breathe a little easier with our recently launched free Price Drop Payback program, now in effect for the remainder of the year.

It’s as simple as this: if the price for the same itinerary goes down any time before your trip, we’ll pay you back the difference in the form of a travel voucher for up to $100 per ticket! We are proud to be the only U.S. travel site who offers this unique buyer protection and we hope this program will arm you with buying confidence.

To take advantage of Price Drop Payback, any time after your purchase go to the My Trips section of our web site to retrieve your itinerary. From there, with one click you can check to see if your fare has gone down. If it has, we’ll issue you a travel credit immediately. You can check your fare every week, every day, or as often as you want. It’s fast and easy and free.

  2. Now that it’s 2014 is the Price Drop Payback still in play?
The description says it’s in affect through the end of the year but the initial post is from 2011. Just want to make sure before I purchase my ticket through you guys.
    Thanks.

  3. Hello,

have you made the determination of whether the PDP program will be extended into 2014?

    Thanks and happy new year!

  4. “….now in effect for the remainder of the year.” Does that means Price Drop Payback was only for 2011 and isn’t offered anymore?

    • Hi Joseph,

Price Drop Payback has been extended indefinitely. If there are ever any changes to this program, we’ll let everyone know.

  5. I see a ticket on cheapair for an AA flight for 532. On AA’s website its 481. I would buy from you for the PDP but I was wondering if AA drops their price will it definitely be dropped on your website. In other words, who or what determines if the price is dropped on cheapair?

    • Hi Tami,

Fares are determined by the airlines. Airlines will sell their flights through GDSs (Global Distribution Systems), so anyone who is authorized and licensed to sell their fares can do so. The prices are usually the same, but can vary at times depending on if an airline is offering a direct booking sale or not. When purchasing flights on CheapAir.com, we search all the airlines to find the lowest prices. We offer our exclusive Price Drop Payback program, where if the price for the same itinerary goes down any time before your trip, we’ll pay you the difference in the form of a travel credit, up to $100 per ticket!

If you’re able to provide me with your routes and dates, I’d be happy to check fares for you.

  6. One question… I see that in your Price Drop Payback terms and conditions it says: “Price Drop Payback does not apply to airfares that may be seen on other web sites.” Can you clarify exactly what this means?

    • Hi Alexandra,

The CheapAir.com Price Drop Payback program allows you to check if the price of your ticket has dropped after you purchase with CheapAir.com. So if you see the same flight on another website that is cheaper, we won’t be able to honor their pricing if its lower. Please let us know if you need any help.

    • Hi Linda,

Price Drop Payback credits are valid for one year, beginning one day after the scheduled departure date of the original ticket. So depending on when your credit was issued, that will determine how long your credit will be valid for. You can read all the terms and conditions about Price Drop Payback here: http://10.185.58.36/pdp-terms.htm and feel free to e-mail us at [email protected] if you need any assistance.

  7. If the price goes down $50 and I get a $50 voucher and then it goes down another $50 for the same ticket, do I get another $50 voucher?

    • Hi Herb,

Each ticket is only eligible for one Price Drop Payback credit. Once you accept a travel credit, you will not be eligible for additional credits for further price drops on the same itinerary. With any price drop, you will have the option to decline the Price Drop Payback credit and wait for a potentially bigger price drop in the future. You can learn more about Price Drop Payback here: http://www.cheapair.com/pdp-terms.htm

  8. Is it possible to purchase ticket from Price Drop Payback for international flights originating from other counties to the US. I am currently in Malaysia and will be looking to getting a one way ticket back to Richmond, VA before the end of the year.

    Thanks
