Now that Bitcoin valuation has hit the stratosphere, you might be tempted to spend a little of that cybercurrency and take a well-earned vacation. Luckily, CheapAir takes Bitcoin for payment and international airlines are ready with first-class amenities to pamper you while you fly!
Spa Shower in the Air with Emirates
Emirates is at the forefront of first class amenity innovation. One of our faves is the airborne shower. Each paying first class passenger on the trans-Atlantic A380 can shower once per flight. How? It’s as simple as booking a reservation with one of the in-flight shower attendants. Showers are booked in 30 minute increments, and you can do your post-shower buff and shine with the help of Bvulgari products. With a maximum “two person occupancy,” you’ll be showing up to your honeymoon or business destination refreshed and relaxed.
Every Seat is an Aisle Seat with Virgin Atlantic
When you book what Virgin Calls “Upper Class” and they promote as akin to other airline’s business class, you secure an easy-access, no wiggling needed aisle seat. That’s right – any seat booked in “Upper Class” is an aisle seat (there’s even a little extra room for a friend to stop by for a chat). And as a bonus, because this is Virgin, you’ll get first class treatment and service from the time you leave the house (chauffeur service), to check-in (priority, natch) to the “clubhouse” lounge at the airport (some of them even have a spa).
The Swag Game is Strong on Singapore Airlines
Every international airline offers first class passengers a goodie/swag bag to help you relax. We think Singapore Airlines has cornered the market on cool in this department.
Ferragamo (the Italian luxury goods brand) supplies male AND female first class amenity kits. The men’s grey toiletry kit features a 30ml Eau de Toilette from the Acqua Essenziale BLU range, while the ladies’ toiletry bag includes a 30ml Eau de Parfum sample from the Signorina Eleganza edition. Both bags come with a lip balm, after shave balm, and cleansing towel.
Hit the Mini Bar on Etihad
Like most other international airlines, Etihad has a pretty stunning menu of first class amenities. Unlike other airlines, Etihad is upping the drinking game by having a mini bar at every suite. Hitting the call button for service is a thing of the past for you – just sample your own personal bevvie stock – mini bottles of beer, wine and spirits are all on deck. Other amenities in the first-class suites include premium leather-upholstered seats and ottoman and a 24-inch TV.
Sleep, dine and treat yo’self like a King on Qatar
Sure, every international airline offers sleeping suites in first class these days. But Qatar wants you to luxuriate in $1,000 a set Frette linens while you snooze. Celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa designed the dinner menus and dessert is by Ladurée. Add in amenity kits from Armani, and you’ve got a recipe for fancy on your hands.
Chic is as Chic Does on Air France
France is known for luxury and sophistication, so its not surprising that Air France’s Le Première private suites offer the height of style. Understated class is the rule of the day, with leather, wood and tweed accents in your private suite, and the white glove service really delivers on its promise. Turn down service, individual lamps at each seat/bed and a cloakroom help keep your ride civilized. Le Première is offered from Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Miami, San Francisco, and Washington D.C.
Domestic airlines are getting outclassed for the most part by international carriers, but we saved a little love for JetBlue’s Mint product, which offers lie-flat beds and awesome service on trans-continental flights. Read more about JetBlue Mint here. And don’t forget these other great ways to spend a little Bitcoin.
As always happy travels!
