Do I have an assigned seat when I book my trip online?

When you book your reservation online, for most fare classes you will be asked to select a preference, window or aisle. When the booking is completed, our system will automatically find you the seat (by preference) closest to the front of the plane.

If you would like to change your seat to a specific one, you may do so either online or by contacting us. We have direct links to the airlines inventory and can usually change your seat assignment instantly. To select your seat online click on the My Trips tab at the top of the page. Enter your Booking number and last name to view your itinerary. From the travel itinerary page you can scroll down and click the link “Choose Seats.” Keep in mind that airlines do charge more for select seating. If you are not able to view any seats, do not be worried. At times we are not able to view the airlines seating maps. Seat assignments on

If you were not assigned a seat, this likely means you booked a Basic Economy fare, which do not permit assigned seats prior to airport arrival.

If you did not book a Basic Economy ticket, it could mean that the airline is not permitting pre-assigned seating at this time or they may only assign seating at Check In. Please note, once you have paid for your ticket, you do have a confirmed seat regardless of whether or not you have a pre-assigned seat number.

Finally, if you find yourself seated next to a screaming baby, there is not much we at CheapAir can do to help you. However all is not lost! It is not uncommon for there to be unsold seats on a flight so you can always ask a flight attendant if there is anywhere else you can be seated. Make sure to smile and hint there may be a bag of peanuts in it for them and you are sure to get rock star treatment.
