If you receive notification of a schedule change from CheapAir or directly from your air carrier, you might be asking yourself, what exactly is an airline schedule change? Great question! A schedule change is any modification to your flight’s schedule prior to the date of departure. Due to the operational needs of each airline they often make changes to the flights they operate. These changes can range from a one minute delay all the way up to a completely canceled flight. Some flight changes include: flight number change, time of departure change, routing changes (if you have a plane change in Atlanta, a change might be that you might now have a plane change in New Orleans), date changes and/or cancellations. This can be inconvenient, but unfortunately is the prerogative of the airline you’re traveling.
CheapAir will almost always notify you by e-mail if your reservation is impacted by an airline schedule change.
Our Policy regarding Schedule Changes (and answers to a few more common questions):
We recommend that you verify your itinerary in My Trips 48 – 72 hours prior to your departure. When booking several months or weeks in advance, you may also want to periodically verify your flight information online. This will help avoid being surprised by changes that may arise.
Your flight details are always available online in My Trips. All airline schedule changes will be noted here and we will also make every effort possible to contact you via email if your itinerary has changed. In some instances, we may need to talk to you to discuss flight alternatives.
Options to Resolve a Schedule Change:
- Call the airline directly. If you are in the airport already and the change was last minute, this is probably your best recourse since they will have the most up-to-the-minute information and will likely be working to assist others on your flight as well.
- You can always call CheapAir and we will work with the airline to resolve the changes to your satisfaction. As your advocate, we’ll help provide options that will get you to your destination with a minimum of inconvenience to you.
What services does CheapAir provide for schedule changes?
CheapAir will notify you by e-mail if your reservation is impacted by an airline schedule change. After we speak with you, CheapAir we will work with the airline on your behalf and try to come to a resolution. In some cases the only resolution may result in cancellation of the flight and issuing you a refund.
What happens if I cannot be given a satisfactory option to get me to my destination?
This is called re-protecting you. We will make every attempt to get the airlines in question to re-protect the customer. It ultimately depends on the airline or airlines involved. If the airline is unable to re – protect the customer we will request a refund on your behalf.
Schedule changes are not ideal, and we know that you may have plans that can be negatively impacted when the airlines exercise their right to change routes or timings. Please understand that we will do what is within our power to make the process as painless as possible for you.
