Online travel agency recognized for its booking interface, mobile site, and travel blog
Calabasas, CA (Oct. 27, 2016) – CheapAir.com today announced that the online travel agency has won three Travel Weekly Magellan Awards. The CheapAir.com Booking Interface, Mobile Site, and Blog were each named Silver Winners for 2016.
The Magellan Awards are hosted by Travel Weekly and TravelWeekly.com, the most influential B2B news resources for the travel industry. The awards honor the best in travel and salute the outstanding travel professionals behind it all. CheapAir.com and the other winners will be featured in the October issue of Travel Weekly.
In 2016, CheapAir.com’s booking interface and mobile website caught the judges’ eyes. Launched in October 2015, the new booking interface for airline tickets introduced one-click upgrades for JetBlue and Virgin America flights as well as cabin images for both airlines. The CheapAir.com interface enables customers to Mix-And-Match™ flights from different airlines and see the airplane type, cabin configurations, in-flight entertainment, and Wi-Fi availability for each route, and was the first, and continues to be the only, online agency to book flights to Cuba.
In August 2016, CheapAir.com’s booking interface and mobile site also became the first to offer a Fly Now Pay Later™ monthly payment option. The 3-, 6-, and 12-month payment plans continued CheapAir.com’s tradition of introducing unconventional checkout options ahead of the industry. CheapAir.com was also the first online travel agency to enable Bitcoin and Western Union payments for flights and hotels.
The CheapAir.com Blog also stood out from the crowd with original airfare studies, insider tips, and money saving advice found nowhere else. CheapAir.com conducted an analysis of The Best Time to Buy Plane Tickets based on more than 1.3 billion fares. This study led to the travel industry’s first ever interactive When to Buy Flights tool, capable of identifying the Prime Booking Window™ for any route. As in past years, CheapAir.com published its annual Holiday Cheap Flights Report and Summer Cheap Fights Report, both indispensable tools for navigating the busiest travel seasons.
“We look for unconventional ways to make booking travel a better experience for our customers,” said Jeff Klee, CEO of CheapAir.com. “The Magellan Awards are recognition that our approach to providing information and booking options that can’t be found anywhere else is leading the online travel industry.”
